See How Listeners Find You on Google

Spotify discovery doesn’t only happen inside Spotify. See which Google searches lead to an artist, track, playlist or curator, where it ranks and how that changes.

What Google Rankings Shows

When someone hears a song in a video, or wants music for a moment, they often search Google first. Every artist, track and curator in artist.tools has a Google Rankings tab, and every playlist has one in its SEO tab. It lists the Google searches that lead there, the position for each, how many people make that search a month, and the page that ranks: Spotify, a press article, a lyrics site or another page. Rankings are tracked in seven countries: the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India and South Africa.

Clicks From Google

The tab opens on Clicks from Google: an estimate of the visits those rankings bring each month, and where they come from, split into the top 3, the rest of the first page, the second page and beyond. Below it, the searches where it’s already on Google’s first page, and the pages that bring in the most clicks.

See What Moved Your Rankings

Compare the latest check with the one before, or with 30 or 90 days ago. Rankings that jump after a press feature, a campaign or a playlist taking off show which efforts reach listeners outside Spotify. Filter every ranking by country, position, change or search volume, sort by estimated clicks or by when it first appeared, and export the list as a CSV.

Across Your Roster

The SEO & Press Overview shows Google rankings and press for every artist, track, playlist and curator in your folders in one view. You can also ask for rankings from ChatGPT or Claude through the artist.tools MCP.

Who It’s For

Curators whose playlists rank for the moods and moments they cover, artists and managers checking whether a release can be found beyond Spotify, and labels and PR teams measuring what press and campaigns did for search. Google Rankings is part of the Industry plan.

It works alongside Spotify SEO for search inside Spotify and press tracking for the articles behind your rankings. For how to rank in the first place, read our guide to SEO for musicians.

FAQ

Plainly answered

Why do Google rankings matter for Spotify?

Listeners search Google for songs, artists and playlists, and the results send them to Spotify. Ranking there brings in listeners you don’t pay for, on top of Spotify’s own search and recommendations.

Which plan includes Google rankings?

Google Rankings is part of the Industry plan. Free accounts see what the tab offers and can upgrade from it.

Which countries are tracked?

Seven: the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India and South Africa. Each ranking shows its country, and you can filter by country.

How are clicks estimated?

From each search’s monthly volume and the share of clicks its position usually gets on Google, added up across countries and ranking pages. They’re estimates, best used to compare searches and spot changes.

How far back does the history go?

You can compare the latest check with the one before, or with 30 or 90 days ago, to see how rankings moved after press, a campaign or playlist growth.

Can I export rankings?

Yes. Export every ranking as a CSV, with the search, country, ranking page, position, monthly searches and estimated clicks.

How is this different from Spotify SEO?

Spotify SEO covers search inside Spotify: keywords, playlist rankings and autocomplete. Google Rankings covers the searches outside it. Together with press tracking, they show where discovery comes from.
