Catch playlist fraud weeks before the reports

Playlist-level fraud signals for artist teams, labels, playlist platforms and distributors: in the app, in alerts, or through the API inside your own systems.

Fraud Shows Up After the Damage

And it lands on your catalog

  • Reports arrive after the money moves

Monthly artificial-stream reports land after the streams are counted and the royalties calculated.

  • Every flag looks the same

A promo scam an artist fell for and an organised fraud ring both start as a few bad playlists.

  • Vetting curators doesn’t scale

Every new curator needs checking, and bought growth looks real at a glance.

  • Dashboards don’t reach your systems

Your review queue, payouts and support tools need the signal, not another login.

From First Flag to Decision

Weeks before the monthly report

  1. Day 1

A botted playlist adds a release.

The same day, your team gets the alert, or your systems get the data through the API. No waiting for a monthly report.

    • Quality ratings on 32M+ Spotify playlists
    • Email alerts for watched artists, tracks and playlists
    • Flagged-playlist checks for artists and tracks by API

    Bot Detection

  2. Day 2

    The pattern takes shape.

See which flagged playlists added it, who runs them and when. A promo scam and an organised operation look different once they’re laid out.

    • Every high-risk add, dated
    • The owner behind each playlist
    • Exposure across the artist’s other releases

    Catalog Monitoring

  3. Day 3

    Look at who’s behind them.

Check the curators: how many playlists they run, and whether they own other botted ones.

    • Curators filtered by botted-playlist ownership
    • Playlist counts and follower reach
    • Bulk playlist checks by Spotify ID

    Search

  4. Day 4

Sweep the rest of the catalog.

Ask which other artists landed on high-risk playlists this week, in the app or from your AI tools.

    • Folders for rosters, labels and watchlists
    • The same data through the MCP server
    • Digest emails with the biggest changes

    Spotify MCP

  5. Day 30

    The monthly report arrives.

By the time it lands, your team has already reviewed the releases it’s likely to name, with the record to show it.

    • A dated trail of every flag
    • Context for royalty and support decisions
    • Proactive steps to show your DSP partners

Questions From Fraud Teams

Plainly answered

What does artist.tools detect?

Playlist-level risk. We rate more than 32 million Spotify playlists for bot activity and other signs of artificial streaming, and show when an artist or track lands on a flagged one. We don’t analyse stream-level data, so it’s an early signal to investigate, not a verdict.

Does a botted playlist mean the artist committed fraud?

No. Much of the exposure comes from promo services that sell placements on botted playlists, often to artists who don’t know. A pattern across many flagged playlists, accounts or releases is what separates a scam victim from something larger, and your team makes that call.

Can we integrate this into our own systems?

Yes. The Enterprise API covers flagged playlists connected to artists and tracks, bulk playlist checks by Spotify ID, and playlist fraud datasets to sync into your tools. The MCP server brings the same data into AI tools. See the API documentation.

Can you build endpoints around our workflow?

Yes. For distributors and large catalogs, we shape endpoints and data deliveries around your access needs and review process. Talk to our team about what you need.

How do playlist platforms vet curators?

Search curators by whether they own botted playlists, filter playlists by bot rating, or look up playlists directly, in the app or in bulk through the API.
