How to check a song's stats on Spotify

Spotify shows a song’s play count in its desktop app and web player, once the song passes 1,000 plays, and Spotify for Artists shows detailed stats only for your own songs. To see the public stats of any song, search for it in the song stats checker above: its total streams and daily growth, playlist adds and their reach, popularity, Shazams, TikTok videos, tempo and audio features, songwriters, producers and ISRC.

  1. Search for the song in the box above, or paste its Spotify track link.
  2. Read its stats at a glance. Anything artist.tools hasn’t observed for that song is left out rather than shown as zero.
  3. Open its history in artist.tools to see how each stat has changed since artist.tools first observed the song.

It works for any song on Spotify, not only yours: a competitor’s single, a reference track, or a song you’re thinking of covering.

Where these numbers come from

artist.tools observes each song’s public Spotify stream count and popularity periodically, and tracks the playlists that add it. Popular songs are observed on most days; less-played songs can be observed less often. The daily figure is the average change since the earliest count observed in the last 7 days, and says how many days it covers. Playlist adds count the tracked playlists that have added the song; their follower reach is the sum of those playlists’ followers, not unique listeners. Shazam counts and audio features come from Shazam, where it has matched the song; TikTok videos count the videos using its sound. Spotify counts a stream once a song has played for at least 30 seconds (Spotify’s rules).

Every Spotify song stat in one place

Spotify shows a play count on some songs. Track analytics shows the rest:

  • Streams and daily streams: the total and how fast it’s growing. For a quick count, use the stream counter.
  • Playlists: how many playlists have added the song, their combined followers, and how many listeners they bring.
  • Popularity: Spotify’s 0–100 popularity score for the song, over time.
  • Shazams and TikTok: how often people look the song up, and how many TikTok videos use it.
  • Audio analysis: tempo (BPM), energy, danceability and mood, from Shazam’s analysis where it’s available.
  • Credits and metadata: songwriters, producers, ISRC, release date, label copyright and genres.
  • Bot risk: whether any high-risk playlists have added the song.

Spotify stats for artists, songs and playlists

Song stats are one part of the picture. For artists, see their monthly listeners or Spotify analytics; for a playlist’s followers, tracks and bot risk, the playlist analyzer. Looking for your own listening stats, like your top songs and artists? Spotify shows those in the app and in Wrapped; artist.tools shows the public stats of any song, artist or playlist.

See which playlists drive a song

A song’s streams usually rise with its playlists. Track analytics lists every playlist that has added the song, with each one’s followers, and shows the movement: which playlists added it and which removed it, and when.

Use it to see which placements actually moved your numbers, to find the playlists behind a competitor’s hit, or to spot a playlist that dropped your song before it shows in your streams.

Follow a release over time

Every stat is observed over time, so you can follow a release from its first observation: daily streams, playlist adds and popularity on one timeline. When a number jumps, you can see what happened that day, such as a big playlist add or a viral moment on TikTok.

It’s the quickest way to compare a release with your last one, or to judge whether a promotion campaign worked.

Protect your songs from risky playlists

Playlists that use bots can add your song without asking. Track analytics flags every high-risk playlist that has added a song, and with a paid plan you get an email when a new one does, so you can act before your distributor or Spotify does. To check one playlist, use the free Spotify bot checker.

Song stats vs Spotify for Artists

Spotify for Artists shows detailed stats for your own songs, including saves, sources of streams and listener demographics. It doesn’t show anyone else’s songs, or how a song is doing outside Spotify.

Any other song on Spotify No Yes
Saves and sources of streams Yes No
Playlist adds and their reach Some Every playlist we track

Most artists use both: Spotify for Artists for their own listeners, and track analytics for the market around them. For an artist’s whole catalog, see artist analytics.
